ANOTHER SUNDAY

Today I had to work in the store and it was a pretty quit day. So we decided to try on some clothes. I have decided that I have a new favorite brand. Ba-sh. I just love all of their clothes! When I checked out their look book for spring summer 2011. I wished that we had more of their clothes in the store.

MY NEW FAVORITE SWEATER

I have been living in this sweater from My second Female. It is all I wanted, the wide neckline and the comfyness of knitted cotton. I also found out that a big part of my closet consist out of striped shirts. My boyfriend didn't even notice that it was a new addition to my wardrobe! Anyway I am loving it. 

I won!!!

Well not really, but I got two of the four paintings I was bidding on yesterday! It was my first online auction and OMG! I was so nervous at one point, I even had to light a cigarette! ( I really only smoke when I am out and having a glass of wine, really!)
I got the lovely lady in red and the madonna with child.

I lost a pretty amazing engraving though. I know it was the best thing their was for sale but I was scared to bid on it because it was a bit out of my comfort zone. Now I am so regretting it! Anyway next time I should just follow my guts.
Now I have to start figuring out how to actually sell. I am thinking I will give Etsy a try. Anyway I am so happy with my purchases and I think I am of to a good start!

To celebrate I went on a little shopping trip and I got this amazing comfy striped knitted sweater. I know it will look great on some skinny jeans with brown loafers or simple black ballerina's.

Pink pants

I just got a pair of cropped pinkish/ nude trousers from Filippa K and I am completely in love with them. I don't have the perfect shoe jet to match the pants but after seeing these lovely ladies I think I know what kind of shoe I will have to ad to my collection.

These Current Elliot pants we actually sell in the store where I work. Seeing how they look so good on this girl I am thinking I might have to get a pair of these as well.

The beginning

As I love visiting auctions in random cities to see if there is hidden gem I can snatch up I started thinking. Why not do something with this little hobby. Why not see if anyone wants to buy one of my found treasures. I have a small apartment and I don't think my boyfriend is going to be happy if every square inch of wall is covered with a painting. And that is going to happen if I will not find a solution.

In the art world a person buying and reselling art is what you call an art dealer. This term reminds me of an older distinguished, slightly if not very arrogant man acting like he is above the rest of the world. As I am the complete opposite I don't like this term art dealer.

So how to start I don't know. But Today we went to an auction house to have a look at their goods. I found some really nice paintings. And I am hoping that some of these will mark my start as an art dealer!

I love these flowers, the colours and the fine way their painted. The frame it comes in is  beautifully gilded. This is a nice decorative piece I wouldn't mind hanging on my wall.

This nice bearded old man looked very nice on the pictures unfortunatly i haven't seen in real life. I will still put a bid on it though. I have a thing for paintings/ portraits of old man.

I really wanted to see this painting. I thought it looked promising in the pictures. Unfortunately the exotic birds weren't well executed and the frame it came in was in poor state. So this I will not bid on.

This painting I am not sure about. I love the feeling you get from it. The bright spring afternoon on a farm just makes you fantasize. The frame I didn't like though. You can always change the frame of course.  

These last two were a surprise I didn't give them a look on the website but standing in front if them I was surprised by the brightness of the colors and detailing in the fabrics and background. They are estimated for such a bargain price as well. So I will definatly bid on these lovely ladies. And I will be really really sad if don't get them!

Today is my moms birthday. It's weird. I don't know what I am supposed to feel. We are going to the cemetery to lay down some of her favorite flowers. I don't really want to go. Is that stupid? It's just that she is still so alive in my head that going to her grave is... weird almost. Like she can't be really there.
 I can't focus on anything today, so maybe i should stop pretending to be doing useful things.

Lazy tuesday

It's a little past eleven on this tuesday morning and I am sitting behind my lap top with an already cold cup of earl grey. It's one of these mornings where waking up has just been impossible. And now I just can't get myself to start working on my thesis. I have some article spread before me but I am not even giving them one glance. Instead of writing I have been loosing myself in the wonderful world of internet. Discovering all these talented and creative people and being inspired by them. I love it when stumble upon someone new and just get lost into their world. I can spend hours doing this and completely loose any sense of time.

To sun is getting out now after a whole morning of pouring rain. Maybe I should take Berre out for a long walk in the park.

* I finally got a proper camera and I have been snapping up some pictures around the house trying to get the know this camera.

I got some pink peonies yesterday. They are one of my favorites! I didn't get any flowers for my house in a while and i forgot how happy they make me. I spend half an hour just looking at them and taking pictures while constantly saying how absolutely beautiful they looked.

My little baby Berre. I can look at her all day I knoe it's corny but for now she is my most favorite subject to photograph!

Fresh start

It's been a while since i wrote something so it's time to do something about that. It's spring and that always gives me the feeling of new beginnings. The whether has been amazing the last weeks with the sun shining almost everyday. And as I start realizing that this might be my last summer living in Amsterdam, I try to enjoy it as much as I can. Taking long walks in the park with my dog. Having bbq's with friends and just enjoying life. As a result my thesis writing seems to be going well for a change and the end is finally in sight!
